A Foggy Morning Birdwatching at the Lake

You wouldn’t think that a foggy morning would be a good time to to go birdwatching due to the fact that you can’t see anything at a distance. Sometimes you get a sweet surprise. The fact that you can’t see birds from a distance also means that they can’t see you. The other morning I got up at 5:00AM and headed toward the lake at Chester Frost Park. As daylight came about, so did the fog. I could hardly see the water right in front of me. I began to think I might be wasting my time. I decided to wait it out a while to see of the fog would subside. Sure enough it did and I started to see the silhouettes of Mallards and Great Blue Herons flying in the distance. Gifts For Birders

by admin on Nov.27, 2009, under Uncategorized

Wondering what gift to give the birder in your family? With the holiday season upon us, I decided to write a post that will help you with this decision. These ideas, such as bird books, field guides, birdfeeders, birdbaths, scopes, binoculars, and cameras, come from my personal experiences in birdwatching and I have either used or considered using all of the products on this page. All of these products are available at most book stores, birding stores, etc, or you can get all of them at one place, Amazon.com

If you have no idea what the birder already owns or don’t know where to begin, you can always give a gift card from Amazon.com and let them decide what to get.

Welcome to Southeast Birds!

This blog is intended for birdwatchers, new and experienced.

I am pretty new to birdwatching myself and wanted to start a blog to teach and learn about the birds in my area. Whether you are just beginning or if you have been birdwatching for a while there should be something here for everybody.

Feel free to comment if you have questions, information to share, or if you just want to talk about birds. Please keep in mind I intend to keep the content safe for the whole family as I believe birdwatching is a great way for the whole family to come together, so if you do comment, keep it clean and unoffensive.

Thanks for checking out SoutheastBirds.com and let me know if you would like to see something added to the site.
