Description
The male Great Blue Heron is a large wading bird with long brown legs and feet. He has a mostly blue-gray body and wings accented with rusty and black colors. His long plumes hang from his lower neck and chest, and from his lower back at the start of breeding season. He sports black plumes from his eyes to the back of his mostly white head and a long yellow beak that turns orange during breeding season.
The female is the same as the male.
The juvenile is similar to the adult Great Blue Heron except for his grey crown, dark upper bill and has no plumes.
The adults are large birds, about 3 to 4 feet long with a wingspan of 5 to 6 feet, and weighs approximately 4 to 5 pounds.
Habitat
The Great Blue Heron is found all over North America year round. They can always be found near or on the shorelines of any type of body of water, usually wading. They will hunt in fresh or salt water marshes as well.
They nest in high treetops mostly in colonies, occasionally in pairs. Their nests consist of twigs and sticks lined with pine or moss, or whatever other type of soft material they can find.
Diet
Great Blue Herons feed mostly on fish and amphibians, but have been known to eat small mammals as well. When fish can’t be found they will feed on invertebrates, reptiles, and even small birds.
Facts
- Plume hunting had little affect on the number of Great Blue Heron, although other types of Herons, such as the Great White Heron, where not as fortunate.
- It is common for them to choke on large fish.
- The Great Blue Heron is the largest Heron in North America.
- When hunting, The Heron will stand silently and patiently waiting for prey to come to them, then with a quick jab, they stab them with their long beaks. They have also been known to stalk their prey.
- Mostly active during the day but will hunt at night.
- Pairs only last through breeding season. New pairs begin every year.
- The male Great Blue Heron chooses the nesting area then displays himself to attract a female.

Are you getting any sort of plug ins or widgets that will quicken it up? Do you think you could possibly give the names so that I can use them in my own resource site so twilight eclipse users could watch twilight breaking dawn online trailers and clips a lot quicker I’d personally always be happy – regards in advance
